Recap: Stewart County Royal Knights vs. Chattahoochee County Panthers

If the Stewart County Royal Knights were feeling good off their 81-37 takedown of the Quitman County Hornets two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Stewart County lost to Chattahoochee County on the road by a decisive 56-42 margin on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Stewart County in their matchups with Chattahoochee County: they've now lost six in a row.

Chattahoochee County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Yaelah Protho led the charge by scoring 21 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessika Carter , who scored 15 points along with four steals.

Stewart County's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Chattahoochee County, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stewart County will take on Baker County at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
