Recap: Northampton County Jaguars vs. North Edgecombe Warriors
The Northampton County Jaguars can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They claimed a resounding 67-36 victory over North Edgecombe on the road. Winning may never get old, but Northampton County sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
It was another big night for Michaela Hodge, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 17 rebounds. Hodge is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Charlice Tyner, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Le'Lah Jenkins, who scored 11 points. ChyAsia Garrett was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
North Edgecombe struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northampton County pulled down 29 offensive rebounds.
Northampton County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for North Edgecombe, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Northampton County will be playing in front of their home fans against Weldon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Weldon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. North Edgecombe won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against KIPP P at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. KIPP P comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
