Northwest Crossroads Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Marco Castro Dazzles in Kankakee Valley Victory

Marco Castro helped snap Kankakee Valley's five-game losing streak. Nobody could stop Castro on Friday as he rushed for 213 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season.

If the past is any indication, Castro could be in store for another big game when he takes on Munster on Friday. When Castro last faced the Mustangs back in October of 2023, he rushed for 320 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry.

Willy Shearer Goes Supernova in Hobart Loss

While Willy Shearer delivered a dominant effort on Friday, a win just wasn't in the cards for Hobart. Shearer was dynamite, rushing for 79 yards and three touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Hobart's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Hammond Morton's probably not too fond of Shearer given he always seems to get the better of them. Shearer rushed for 230 yards and five touchdowns the last time he and the Governors duked it out back in October of 2023.
