Softball Recap: Bluefield Takes a Loss

Bluefield scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 17-8 to the Greenbrier East Spartans. The loss leaves the Beavers still looking for their first win of the season.

Taylor Mabry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Audra Rockness, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

Mabry wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Bluefield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Bluefield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Greenbrier East, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Bluefield will venture away from home to face off against Princeton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give Bluefield their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Greenbrier East, they will be playing at home against Chapmanville Regional at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
