Football Game Preview: Mira Monte Lions vs. Del Oro Suns + How To Watch

The Mira Monte Lions will face off against the Del Oro Suns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mira Monte knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Del Oro likes a good challenge.

Mira Monte will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating South, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Lions enjoyed a cozy 42-28 victory over the Spartans on Thursday.

Nathan Gonzales had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 160 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 160 yards and a pair of TDs on perfect 6-for-6 passing. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 17th straight game with at least 119 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Gonzales was just one part of a punishing run game: Mira Monte was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 234 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 228 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Del Oro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Foothill 36-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Suns were not able to get on the board.

Mira Monte is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points over those games. As for Del Oro, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for Mira Monte against Del Oro in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 45-0 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Suns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
