The Glenelg Country Dragons will square off against the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Glenelg Country came up short against Severn School on Thursday, falling 9-1. The loss was the Dragons' first of the season.
Brayden Henson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Country Day School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Sunday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Franklin Regional.
James Lowe put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lowe was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 5-for-7. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Alex Stiefel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Achilles Morales was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.
Even though they lost, Charlotte Country Day School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post 11 or more hits.
Having lost for the first time this season, Glenelg Country fell to 2-1. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Glenelg Country has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Country Day School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
