Baseball Recap: Cambridge Springs Wins Going Away Against Jamestown

After low-scoring totals in their previous four game, Cambridge Springs brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Jamestown Muskies on Tuesday. The Devils not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024 (when they won 15-0).

Matthew Ross was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Brett Kania was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dale Smith, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI.

Cambridge Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Cambridge Springs' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Jamestown, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Cambridge Springs has already played their next game, a 9-0 defeat against Cochranton on the 23rd. As for Jamestown, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-2 loss against Union City on the 23rd.
