Baseball Recap: Jamestown Drops Highest Score of Season Against Youngsville

Jamestown extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-15 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-14 heartbreaker at the hands of the Youngsville Eagles. On the bright side, the 14- run performance marked the Muskies' highest-scoring contest to date.

Nolan Herbold led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Gunnar Dell also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

As for Youngsville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch.

On Youngsville's side, Cole Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Youngsville is 4-1 when Johnson posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Braydon Baker was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and four runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Spinks, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Jamestown wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 23-7 defeat against Saegertown on the 9th. As for Youngsville, they will square off against Iroquois at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
