Basketball Recap: Mount Hope Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Mount Hope Christian Academy played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 73-50 to the Midland Trail Patriots. The Warriors were down 61-33 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Mount Hope Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore TALAN CARON shot 75% from the field en route to 20 points along with eight boards and four steals. CARON is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last 16 games he's played. Another player making a difference was MALACHI FLOHR, who posted 13 points.

Midland Trail was led to victory by Thad Brown and Payton Bailes. Brown went 11-for-21 on his way to 25 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Bailes shot 78% from the field to rack up 19 points. Thanks to that strong game, Bailes now owns an excellent 40.4% three-point shooting accuracy. Jaxon Barnhouse also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Mount Hope Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 14-16. As for Midland Trail, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.

Mount Hope Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Midland Trail, they will square off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Midland Trail is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.
