Softball Recap: Chippewa Chipps vs. Norwayne Bobcats
Chippewa extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-5 in the process. They lost 18-3 to the Norwayne Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 on Tuesday.
CLARA Kirkhart made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Norwayne, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.4 runs.
On Norwayne's side, Avery Lonsbury made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Lonsbury was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Gwinn, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Cloie Kick also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Chippewa didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 defeat against Waynedale on the 22nd. As for Norwayne, they have also already played their next matchup, a 7-6 loss against Tuslaw on the 19th.
