Baseball Recap: Canterbury Gets the Win

On Wednesday Canterbury's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Out-of-Door Academy Thunder.

Trevor Lujan and Nathan Timpe were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Lujan tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Timpe pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lujan went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Timpe went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Gabriel Blaxberg was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Andre Monzon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Canterbury's record now sits at 10-0. As for Out-of-Door Academy, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Canterbury will square off against Tampa Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 2.1, the Terrapins 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Out-of-Door Academy, they will take on Sarasota Military Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
