Basketball Recap: Freeburg Comes Up Short

Freeburg suffered their closest defeat since December 10, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Waterloo Bulldogs by a score of 47-44. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Midgets came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 225th).

This is the second loss in a row for Freeburg and nudges their season record down to 10-9. As for Waterloo, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freeburg will head out to challenge Mater Dei at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Waterloo, they will head out on the road to take on Collinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
