Baseball Recap: Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels vs. Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs
Moshannon Valley had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-6 to make it eight. They fell just short of the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs by a score of 2-1. If the Black Knights/Damsels were looking for revenge after losing 10-4 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Moshannon Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Valent Cervenak, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double was Cervenak's first of the season.
As for Claysburg-Kimmel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.
On Claysburg-Kimmel's side, Mason Campagna made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Campagna posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple.
Moshannon Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Southern Huntingdon County at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Black Knights/Damsels are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Tussey Mountain at 6:00 p.m.
