Softball Game Preview: Maywood CES Wolfpack vs. Maywood Academy Nighthawks

For the second straight game, Maywood CES will face off against Maywood Academy. The Wolfpack will welcome the Nighthawks at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Maywood CES knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Maywood Academy likes a good challenge.

Maywood CES is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Maywood Academy just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 20-10 to the Nighthawks.

Emery Madrid was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Pineda, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

The win was the fifth in a row for Maywood Academy, bringing their record up to 9-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.2 runs over those games. As for Maywood CES, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
