Basketball Game Preview: Rich Township Raptors vs. Kenwood Broncos

The Rich Township Raptors will take on the Kenwood Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rich Township comes in on five and Kenwood on 19.

Rich Township is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They beat Homewood-Flossmoor by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 77-64. The Raptors pushed the score to 65-45 by the end of the third, a deficit the Vikings cut but never quite recovered from.

Rich Township's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Al Brooks, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 20 boards, and Jayden Williams, who went 8-for-13 en route to 22 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Brooks is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamson Coulter, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 14 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Rich Township was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homewood-Flossmoor only five assists.

Meanwhile, Kenwood faced Curie in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Kenwood managed a 69-65 victory over Curie.

Rich Township's record now sits at 25-8. As for Kenwood, their record is now 31-1.

Rich Township didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Kenwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with an 87-83 win. Will Rich Township repeat their success, or does Kenwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
