Softball Game Preview: Garfield Bulldogs vs. South East Jaguars

Garfield is a perfect 10-0 against South East since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will host the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Garfield's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Bell with a sharp 18-0 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Garfield got a massive performance out of Coco Priebe, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Priebe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Valencia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Garfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They are 8-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, South East didn't have quite enough to beat Roosevelt on Thursday and fell 11-10. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Garfield is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for South East, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Garfield took their win against South East when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-5 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
