Saratoga has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lynbrook recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Saratoga is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
On Friday, Saratoga made easy work of MacDonald and carried off a 12-1 win. Considering the Falcons have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Saira Ramakrishnan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Saratoga got a massive performance out of Sydney Riera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Sandy Vavrousek also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Saratoga always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as MacDonald only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Lynbrook came up short against Santa Clara on Friday, falling 23-13.
Sarah Martin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Audrey Lee, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Saratoga pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lynbrook, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Lynbrook's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Saratoga has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lynbrook, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Saratoga keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
Saratoga took their victory against Lynbrook in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 18-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
