Baseball Recap: Pioneer Takes a Loss

Pioneer extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 6-9 in the process. They lost 14-4 to the Carroll Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 11-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2017.

Noah Miller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

As for Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

On Carroll's side, Owen Zinn was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Zinn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lincoln White, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Pioneer will challenge Argos at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.29 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Carroll, they will square off against Sheridan at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
