Football Game Preview: Franklinton Red Rams vs. Vance County Vipers + How To Watch

Franklinton will head out to face Vance County after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. The Red Rams received a blow as they fell 23-7 to Wake Forest. The contest marked the Red Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Vance County came into Friday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat East Wake 48-19. The Vipers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Franklinton better keep an eye on Zion Thornton. He was instrumental in Vance County's win, rushing for 90 yards and one score on only eight carries. Those 90 rushing yards gave Thornton a new career-high.

Vance County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 361 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 62.8 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 256.

Franklinton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Vance County, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-7.

Franklinton strolled past Vance County in their previous matchup back in August of 2018 by a score of 41-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
