Volleyball Recap: Emerald Comes Up Short

Emerald lost against Wren on September 11th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Vikings came up short against the Hurricanes, falling 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-9, 25-10.

Lauren Thomas paced Emerald's offense, picking up seven kills. Thomas got some help from Emily Erskine and her 13 assists.

Wren was led to victory by Libby Claire Yarborough and Peyton Capell. Yarborough had ten digs and one assist, while Capell had 17 digs and three assists. That's the most digs Capell has posted over her last eight matchups.

Emerald's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Wren, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Emerald is set to challenge their familiar foe Westside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Wren will square off against rival Fountain Inn at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
