Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson Hawks vs. Linn-Mar Lions

The Jefferson Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Linn-Mar Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson has now lost 18 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since May 23.

Friday just wasn't the day for Jefferson's offense. They came up short against Iowa City on Friday, falling 11-0.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Linn-Mar duked it out with Western Dubuque on Friday. The Lions walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Bobcats.

Linn-Mar is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-20.

Jefferson might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Linn-Mar when the teams last played back in July of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
