The Niagara Badgers will face off against the Crivitz Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Coleman hit Niagara with a four-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Badgers took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars.
Alivia Kleikamp was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Crivitz entered their tilt with Wausaukee on Monday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 15-5 win. Considering the Wolverines have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Taryn Tracy made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in runs (two).
In other batting news, Izzy Wesoloski was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Kiya Brand was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.
Crivitz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 13-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Crivitz's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Niagara, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Niagara hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Crivitz struggles in that department as they've averaged .469. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Niagara suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Crivitz in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Badgers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
