Baseball Recap: Mansfield Christian Takes a Loss

Mansfield Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Coventry Comets, falling 10-4. That's two games in a row now that the Flames have lost by exactly six runs.

Joshua Hillman was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. Hillman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.

Hillman wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JR Reeder, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Reeder also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.

Mansfield Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Coventry, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

While Mansfield Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
