Basketball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

Avon lost against Cohasset back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Avon Panthers fell 66-59 to the Cohasset Skippers.

Despite the loss, Avon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nyisah Miranda went 10 of 20 en route to 31 points and six assists. The game was Miranda's third in a row with at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Thomas Edwards, who posted 17 points and five assists.

Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Cohasset, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Looking ahead, Avon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Atlantis at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Avon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Cohasset, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Abington at 6:30 p.m.
