Basketball Recap: Devon Hamilton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sheridan over Delphi Community

Sheridan lost against Delphi Community back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sheridan Blackhawks took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Delphi Community Oracles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Blackhawks came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Oracles are ranked 298th).

Several Blackhawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Devon Hamilton, who posted 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Trey Page was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Leading Delphi Community to victory were Walker Jones and Kaydn McAtee. Jones went 8 for 15 on his way to 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while McAtee went 5 of 8 en route to 16 points. The dominant performance also gave McAtee a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Weston Brown, who earned four points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Sheridan's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Delphi Community, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-6.

Sheridan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 85-36 win against Purdue Broad Ripple on the 25th. Delphi Community has also already played their next game, a 50-48 victory against Winamac on the 25th.
