Basketball Recap: Aryana Thomas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lowndes over Richmond Hill

Lowndes was the 54-40 winner over Richmond Hill when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Lowndes Vikings fell just short of the Richmond Hill Wildcats by a score of 42-39 on Friday. The match marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aryana Thomas, who posted 12 points along with eight boards and three steals. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Shamiaha Webb was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lowndes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Lowndes' loss dropped their record down to 18-4. As for Richmond Hill, their record is now 17-6.

Lowndes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-43 defeat against Camden County on the 8th. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. Richmond Hill is facing Valdosta at the right time seeing as Valdosta is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
