Basketball Recap: Mountain Mission Comes Up Short

Mountain Mission lost against Summit Christian Academy back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mountain Mission Challengers took an 89-75 bruising from the Summit Christian Academy Falcons. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (72), the Challengers still had to take the loss.

Summit Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from MJ Patton, who went 10-for-17 to rack up 25 points along with eight assists and six boards. Patton's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Watkins, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

Mountain Mission's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Summit Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

Mountain Mission has already played their next match (against Shelby Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Summit Christian Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Summers County at 7:00 p.m. on February 24th. Summit Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.4 points per game this season.
