Basketball Game Preview: Betsy Layne Bobcats vs. Shelby Valley Wildcats

Betsy Layne hasn't had much luck against Shelby Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Betsy Layne Bobcats duke it out with the Shelby Valley Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Betsy Layne knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Shelby Valley likes a good challenge.

Betsy Layne will head into Sunday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Rockcastle County on Sunday. Betsy Layne blew past Rockcastle County, posting a 92-57 victory. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Rockets are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Shelby Valley was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 67-66 to Chilhowie. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (63), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Betsy Layne has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Shelby Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Betsy Layne was able to grind out a solid win over Shelby Valley in their previous meeting back in February, winning 69-60. Will Betsy Layne repeat their success, or does Shelby Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
