Basketball Game Preview: Cooper City Cowboys vs. Fort Lauderdale Flying L's

Having just played yesterday, the Cooper City Cowboys will get right back to it and host the Fort Lauderdale Flying L at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Cooper City lost to South Plantation at home by a 62-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while the Paladins are ranked 52nd).

Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Colonels by a score of 63-55.

Cooper City better focus on containing Antwain Smith and Antonio Bonami as the pair were huge in Fort Lauderdale's win. Smith dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Bonami went 8 of 15 on his way to 23 points and three steals. Bonami's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rawle Farose, who posted six points along with six assists and five boards.

Fort Lauderdale's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Cooper City, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Cooper City against Fort Lauderdale in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 74-45 win. Does Cooper City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fort Lauderdale turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
