Softball Recap: Gervais' Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Gervais dropped their record down to 13-7-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home. They lost 14-2 to the Regis Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 on Tuesday.

As for Regis, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-2. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 13 matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Regis' part, Addie Bishop made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Bishop has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Regis let Azzilin Smith and Kinley Schade run wild. Smith went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, while Schade went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Sophie Wagner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Regis beat Gervais by a score of 14-3 later that day.
