Baseball Game Preview: Calvert Senecas vs. Wynford Royals

The Calvert Senecas will challenge the Wynford Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Calvert is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

On Thursday, Calvert made easy work of St. Joseph Central Catholic and carried off an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Senecas, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Charlie Palm was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Palm wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cash Lee, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Lee has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, Wynford came up short against Colonel Crawford on Saturday and fell 6-1. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Calvert pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Wynford, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
