Powhatan had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Orange County Fighting Hornets by a score of 20-8. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2018.

Elliott Murphy was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 143 yards while completing 84.6% of his passes.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Powhatan will host Richmond High School for the Arts at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. The game will give the Indians their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Orange County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against King George at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
