Basketball Recap: Middle Creek Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Middle Creek won the last time they faced Green Hope, and Alysia Pergerson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Middle Creek Mustangs had just enough and edged the Green Hope Falcons out 56-54 thanks in part to Pergerson, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Amy Smith, who posted ten points and six steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games.

When it comes to explaining why Green Hope lost on Tuesday, don't look at Abigail Brown. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 boards. The game was Brown's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Bella Cook was another key player, putting up six points and 13 rebounds.

Middle Creek moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Green Hope, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-1.

Middle Creek will welcome Apex Friendship at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Apex Friendship is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season. As for Green Hope, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-42 loss against Wake Forest on the 12th.
