Basketball Recap: Wilmington Starts Season with Win Against Iroquois West

Wilmington gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They blew past the Iroquois West Raiders 54-30. The Wildcats not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 15th (when they won 51-22).

Wilmington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brysen Meents led the charge by shooting 56% from the field en route to 11 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Declan Moran, who posted ten points and five boards.

Wilmington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Iroquois West is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Wilmington has already played their next game, a 50-36 win against Reed-Custer on the 5th. As for Iroquois West, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-41 loss against Tri-Point on the 6th.
