Football Recap: Mercer Island Drops Highest Score of Season Against Renton + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mercer Island). They put the hurt on the Renton Red Hawks with a sharp 51-25 victory on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Islanders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mercer Island's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kainoa Brown, who rushed for 92 yards and three touchdowns. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Brown a new career-high. Jonah Battema also helped out with an impressive 90 receiving yards.

Mercer Island didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Renton to a completion percentage of just 41.7%. The Islanders hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.46 or higher in three consecutive games.

Mercer Island didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Battema and Riley Anderson.

Despite the loss, Renton still got an impressive performance from Wisdom Bryon, who picked up 146 receiving yards and a pair of scores. With that strong performance, Bryon is now averaging an impressive 100.2 receiving yards per game.

The victory got Mercer Island back to even at 3-3. As for Renton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
