Football Recap: Hays Skates Past Lockhart with Ease + How To Watch

Hays won the last time they faced Lockhart and things went their way on Friday too. The Hawks claimed a resounding 53-22 win over the Lions. Considering the Hawks have won three games by more than 29 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gabriel Peach produced another solid effort rushing for 125 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also picking up 62 receiving yards and one score. Those 125 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tacoma Ames, who gained 212 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hays was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 246 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Another reason for the win was Hays' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Nate Rolland, Josiah Salazar, and Kiefer Patterson, who each picked up one sack apiece. Kru Allen was another major factor on D, making 18 total tackles.

When it comes to explaining why Lockhart lost, don't look at Kaidyn Brite. Despite the final result, he rushed for 186 yards and one TD while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Brite really tore up the turf during one magnificent 91-yard run.

Hays' record is now 4-1. As for Lockhart, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coincidentally, Hays and Lockhart will both be playing Weiss the next time they take the field. The Hawks will host the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Lions will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th.
