Baseball Recap: Wendover Comes Up Short

Wendover extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 14-4 to the Intermountain Christian Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-4 last Monday.

As for Intermountain Christian, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Considering they have won eight matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Intermountain Christian's part, Wyatt Furze made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave Furze a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Wendover will challenge Bryce Valley at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Intermountain Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Marauders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.6 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
