Baseball Game Preview: Torres Toros vs. Sotomayor Wolves

For the second straight game, Torres will face off against Sotomayor. The Toros will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Torres is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Torres came up short against Sotomayor and fell 7-2.

For Sotomayor's part, Sebastian Mejia was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Mejia has become a key player for the Wolves: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Trevor Montellano was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Sotomayor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Sotomayor's fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Torres, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Torres hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .391. However, it's not like Sotomayor struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
