Jenna Molk made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off three home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.
Molk wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Reese, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Avery Contini was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Conotton Valley entered their tilt with Frontier on Friday with 15 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 16. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 14-0 shutout. Conotton Valley's victory was all the more impressive since the Cougars were averaging only 1.86 runs allowed on the season.
Like Dover, Conotton Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Maddison Kelley. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Kelley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delilah Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Kelley, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Conotton Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frontier only posted a batting average of .000.
Conotton Valley pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Dover, their record is now 18-3.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dover hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Conotton Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dover came out on top in a nail-biter against Conotton Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Crimson Tornadoes repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
