Basketball Game Preview: Laughlin Cougars vs. Founders Classical Academy Centurions

Laughlin is 5-0 against Founders Classical Academy since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Laughlin Cougars will be playing at home against the Founders Classical Academy Centurions at 11:30 a.m. Laughlin will be strutting in after a victory while Founders Classical Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Laughlin is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 54-3 win over Adelson. With the Cougars ahead 30-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laughlin to victory, but perhaps none more so than AmorA ThomAs, who posted 15 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Thomas has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Valeria Quintero, who earned 12 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Laughlin was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Founders Classical Academy came up short against Awaken Christian on Thursday and fell 37-27. The Centurions have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

The victory made it two in a row for Laughlin and bumps their season record up to 4-7. As for Founders Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Everything came up roses for Laughlin against Founders Classical Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 38-7 win. In that contest, Laughlin amassed a halftime lead of 24-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
