Basketball Recap: Timpview Falls Short Against Ranked Cedar Valley

On Tuesday, Timpview faced Cedar Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Timpview Thunderbirds took a 56-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cedar Valley Aviators. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-52 back in January.

Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grace Erbstoesser, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Erbstoesser a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tasi Galeai, who posted nine points.

Timpview has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Cedar Valley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.

Timpview will head out to take on Spanish Fork at 5:15 p.m. on February 11th. As for Cedar Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wasatch at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Valley is on a six-game streak of home wins, Wasatch a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
