Baseball Recap: Bishop Carroll Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

While Bishop Carroll put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for South. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Titans. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Bishop Carroll gave Nick Wineland the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wineland has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luke Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Harrison King, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Bishop Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win (which was Bishop Carroll's third in a row) raised their record to 7-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for South, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12-1.

Coincidentally, Bishop Carroll and South will both be playing Kapaun Mt. Carmel the next time they take the field. The Golden Eagles will host the Crusaders on Wednesday, while the Titans will host them on Monday.
