Basketball Game Preview: Central Cabarrus Vikings vs. East Mecklenburg Eagles

The Central Cabarrus Vikings will take on the East Mecklenburg Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Central Cabarrus is headed into the match having just posted their biggest win since December 20, 2024 on Friday. They really took it to East Rowan for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-39 victory. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 599th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central Cabarrus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Infinite Morrow led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Kevonta' Martin was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points along with six assists and six boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Mecklenburg). They claimed a resounding 78-33 win over Garinger. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won four contests in a row.

East Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Central Cabarrus, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
