Softball Game Preview: Henry-Senachwine Mallards vs. Fieldcrest Knights

The Henry-Senachwine Mallards will face off against the Fieldcrest Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Henry-Senachwine has six straight victories, Fieldcrest has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Henry-Senachwine will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Marquette, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mallards blew past the Crusaders 8-2 on Tuesday. Considering the Mallards have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Fieldcrest's offense. They came up short against Tremont on Monday, falling 15-0.

Henry-Senachwine's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fieldcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went Henry-Senachwine's way against Fieldcrest in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Henry-Senachwine made off with an 11-5 win. Will the Mallards repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
