Baseball Game Preview: Perkiomen Valley Vikings vs. Pennsbury Falcons

The Perkiomen Valley Vikings will challenge the Pennsbury Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Perkiomen Valley 4, Pennsbury 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Last Tuesday, Perkiomen Valley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Downingtown East.

Michael Strechay made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Strechay wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rowan Dalton, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Dalton has brought in this season.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pennsbury walked away with it. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Fords a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Perkiomen Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pennsbury, their win bumped their record up to 16-6-1.
