Baseball Recap: Basalt Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Meeker, Basalt was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 12-9 win over the Roaring Fork Rams. This was a revenge game for the Longhorns: when they faced off against the Rams on Wednesday, they had to take a 9-5 defeat.

Hagan Hamlet was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ryan Ferreira, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Basalt now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Roaring Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Coming up, Basalt will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Rifle at 4:00 p.m. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.42 runs per game on average), something the Longhorns will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Roaring Fork, they will head out to take on Cedaredge at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
