Basketball Recap: Chardel Terrell Key Part of a Team Effort in Wolverines Win

Clear Brook won the last time they faced Deer Park and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the Clear Brook Wolverines' way against the Deer Park Deer as the Clear Brook Wolverines made off with a 57-36 win. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Deer are ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clear Brook's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chardel Terrell led the charge by going 10 of 23 en route to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Terrell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Rezia Castillo was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Despite the loss, Deer Park still got an impressive performance from Erin Goodson, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 12 points. That's the most points Goodson has posted since back in November of 2024.

Clear Brook pushed their record up to 27-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Deer Park, they now have a losing record at 14-15.

Clear Brook didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-50 win against Clear Creek on the 25th. As for Deer Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-32 victory against Clear Lake on the 25th.
