Softball Recap: Lord Botetourt Comes Up Short

Lord Botetourt extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-8 in the process. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Staunton River Golden Eagles. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Staunton River, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For Staunton River's part, Carly Overstreet was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was Overstreet's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Coles, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Coming up, Lord Botetourt will take on Hidden Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Staunton River will be paying especially close attention to the Cavaliers' matchup: after the Cavaliers face off against William Byrd, they'll take on Staunton River again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
