Baseball Recap: Myrtle Takes Down Biggersville in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Myrtle had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Biggersville Lions on Saturday. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 games by seven runs or more this season.

Drew Stanton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Hunter Davis was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Robbins, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Myrtle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Myrtle is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Biggersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-17-1.

As of now, neither Myrtle nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
