League recap: Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's Koch delivers best pitching performance from past week

3A District 8 league recap: 4/3/13

Tanner Koch was the best pitcher in 3A District 8 this week, leading Bishop McLaughlin Catholic. He won one game and retired eight batters.

Ethan Nuebling had the hottest bat in the league this week, racking up a .400 average, one home run and five RBIs. The Hurricanes went 3-1.

Tampa Prep's pitchers have displayed incredible control over the past week and all season, giving up just three walks over the past seven days and 41 on the year, both No. 1 in the league.

The Terrapins, the league's stolen base leader this season with 54, added to their lead in that category with 13 more steals over the past week.

The league boasted nine .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Dariel Fonseca, who collected seven hits in ten at bats for a .700 average.

Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate's Dariel Fonseca led the league in strikeouts this week with nine. With 25 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks seventh in the league.



Josh Falk drove in four runners as Bishop McLaughlin Catholic defeated Seffner Christian 21-1 on Tuesday. He went 2-for-3 and scored one run.

Tampa Prep's Watson Ransom threw four shutout innings in a 6-0 win over Cedar Creek Christian on Wednesday. He struck out four, allowing two hits.
